Surely an opening date should be included in the article ? It only states: (The play was) "transferred to the Savoy Theatre where it ran for over a year starting on January 21, 1929". In 'Sources' it mentions that the play opened in 1928, (although not when in that year). i dont think this play is all that important because its only one of kids GCSE

How about adding 'Heroism' as a theme? Also, maybe dramatic tension, then know one would have to do any work anymore!

I was using this as a source of information for an essay today (6/5/07) - the inclusion of themes and a short explanation was very useful. I am therefore very dissappointed to find that in a very short space of time someone has decided they need not be included and has deleted this sub-heading. Can someone fix this? - i would but i'm pretty busy with GCSEs at the moment. [Posted by User:Luke-lawson, 2007]

Tagged section

The "themes" section - plainly original research (not at all bad of its kind) - had been tagged since 2008. I propose to delete it, if nobody objects. Tim riley (talk) 07:53, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Is there no way to find references discussing the themes in the play? If not, I reluctantly vote yes, delete. But, perhaps you should move the deleted materials here, so that if anyone ever wants to do the research, they have a starting point? -- Ssilvers (talk) 16:11, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

On a related topic, the link leading to the Ian Maclaren page leads to a page about a man who died in 1907, whilst this article claims that he starred in the film version as Trotter in 1930. Everybody dies

Should there be a mention at the end of the plot summary that it is clearly implied that everybody dies? TheMickyRosen-Left (talk) 10:21, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

"Before St Quentin"

The script identifies the setting as "A dug-out in the British trenches before St. Quentin." In context, this clearly doesn't mean (chronologically) before the Battle of St. Quentin – although that's also true – but (geographically) in the trenches facing the town of St. Quentin, which lay behind German lines.
