What is the following supposed to mean? "Except for its brand name which was first used on September 8, 1977, Chia Pet®, is not a patented invention." You can't patent the brand name, so what is the use of the word "except" supposed to mean here?

Did a little research and corrected the confusion related to trademark and patent as well as corrected dates based on USPTO filings. Added references for USPTO data. Youngbru (talk) 16:14, 31 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
