State of siege edit

This article never mentions that Pacheco used the guerillas as justification to impose a state of siege which he then misused. He repeatedly violated the spirit and letter of the constitution. There is also no mention of Pacheco as a polarizing figure in Uruguayan politics. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dri3s (talkcontribs) 16:24, April 27, 2006.

I've expanded the article somewhat; feel free to add more information, so long as you cite references. Note that the {{NPOV}} template is meant to signify a content dispute, not to request that the article be expanded. // [admin] Pathoschild (talk/map) 22:54, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well yes, I realize that, but I feel that these things are so obvious that not mentioning them is a NPOV violation. --Dri3s 17:42, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Beware, article is politically biased edit

This article is politically biased and not well referenced. There were many reasons for the labor strikes in Uruguay in the early sixties; they were internally generated, not by Soviet influences. Rather, Pacheco used the fear of Soviet influences to justify the State of Emergency and repressive measures. The citation given is an article by a politician (Sanguinetti), not scholarly or unbiased. I cannot fix this myself, but someone needs to go through and correct it using proper historic materials, e.g. "Historiai Contemporanea del uruguay" by Gerardo Caetano and Jose Rilla. The Spanish page is slightly better. Laurids2 (talk) 16:43, 20 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
