New Reference Material edit

Here are two possible sources for this article: Rabe, Stephen G. "The Johnson Doctrine." Presidential Studies Quarterly 36, no. 1 (2006): 48-58. http://www.jstor.org/stable/27552746.

A little less straightforward: "Johnson, Lyndon Baines (1908 - 1973)." In A Dictionary of Contemporary History - 1945 to the present, by Duncan Townson. Blackwell Publishers, 1999. Wldub (talk) 20:44, 21 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

New structure for article edit

Section 1: Lead section: Overview of Doctrine and article structure.

Section 2: Historical background: US involvement in Latin America, especially in regards to combating communism.

Section 3: Context of the Doctrine and specific policies of it.

Section 4: implications of the Doctrine and its aftermath. Wldub (talk) 20:35, 7 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

This seems like a logical structure, although you might look at the format of the Monroe Doctrine as a model. Make sure that your headings conform to the Wikipedia standards (these draft section titles, as I'm sure you know, are too wordy/vague). It looks like you have some work to do as you move forward to find additional sources of evidence. Katherine.Holt (talk) 18:34, 23 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Your tone and focus in the article is outstanding. I know you mentioned that the importance of this doctrine may be lower than the importance of other doctrines. I am not exactly sure how to increase the importance of this specific doctrine, but one thing you may want to consider is to further tie the Johnson doctrine to other doctrines of greater importance, and why the Johnson doctrine mattered in the greater cold war and deterring communism. Maybe add a section about how the Johnson doctrine, and U.S. invasion of the DR influenced the DR in the future. Also if there are any influences that still show today? just some thoughts. Good job so far!BriRHP31 (talk) 15:50, 29 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
