Descendants of Richard Monacute edit
According to the research on this site: http://fabpedigree.com/s028/f501985.htm , which has a pretty good bibliography, Richard did indeed have a son, Edward - although the mother is unknown. A Robert Montague claiming descent from John Montacute married Elizabeth de Mohun through an illegitimate son named Edward and they had issue.LeValley 02:26, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- That site has no sources as to where the information came from. In fact it has no sources at all. William, the 2nd Earl of Salisbury married Elizabeth de Mohun as his second wife; daughter of John Mohun, 2nd Baron Mohun, by his wife Joan de Burghersh. Their son, William, had no issue and the 2nd Earl was succeeded by his nephew. From all three sources listed below, Edward had no issue [died d.s.p]. Therefore I am taking this information out.

- actually, there are extensive sources on Allen's citations page. There are, however, no footnotes. My copy of the Cokayne book has nothing about the Montagues on that page. There's only one edition, AFAIK, so that's not a source and should be removed. There's no page number for the Beltz citation, and no mention of Richard. mother's mother seems wrong edit
Margaret is her name it seems, but in other Wikipedia articles and other places I could check quickly she seems to have been a Braose/Brewes?--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 09:48, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
