How could you had read so poorly the website of Yale University prizes to include that the mentioned prize was endowed for the father rather than the son?SLY111 (talk) 18:40, 25 February 2008 (UTC)SLY111

Just re-read. You are telling me that the prize was first awarded 8 years before the son of J A Porter graduated? Although in the Yale prizes website it says B.A. 1842 (The year the Father graduated?)

Am I missing something here? I reckon you're an American (No derogatory comment intended, its just because of your interest), perhaps you can call the university and find out for sure, I live in Finland, costs are too prohibitive for me to do that.

Here is my rundown - From the wikipedia article: "Porter graduated from Yale College in 1842"

From the Yale site: "JOHN ADDISON PORTER (1872). Kingsley Trust Association in honor of Professor John A. Porter, B.A. 1842. "

Son's details: "They had a son, also John Addison, born in New Haven, Connecticut on April 17th, 1856, who also graduated from Yale (in 1878)"

Seriously, what did I miss here?

I will revert to my wording, won't get into a reversion war here though, just because I am sure I am right, I can read and the numbers don't work if its the son's award.

I'll also post this exchange on the discussion page, for others to mull it over.
