Year of birth?

Editor 69.238.167.215 has changed the date of birth from 1901 to 1900. Removal from power

The actual text assumes political reasons. However p. was dismissed by Goering after the Hamburg catastrophe that resulted from the application of tuned aluminum strips (code name Windows) by the British.

The Hamburg attack was in August of 1943, and Plendl was not dismissed until Mark 1944. By then some counter measures, such as Flak radar with different frequencies had been developed. The citations for this reason in the article do not lead to confirmation of the text. Also, the citation to Louis Brown's "A Radar History of World War II" in the next sentence speculating that Plendl lost his position because of his help of some political prisoners does not have a page number. In fact, the book says that Plendl was dismissed after and argument with the Chief of Flak, citation is included. Bodhimeister (talk) 19:00, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Saving Hans Ferdinand Mayer from internment

This article describes Mayer as being Jewish - however, the article on Hans Ferdinand Mayer does not mention that he was Jewish and instead states that he was "interned in concentration camps until the end of the war for political reasons (listening to "enemy stations" and criticism of the Nazi regime)", and does not mention Plendl's role in saving him. Having gone back to the sources (especially Sterrenburg) I can't find any mention of Mayer being Jewish, and it seems highly unlikely that he could have still occupied his senior position at Siemens as late as 1943 if he had been Jewish. The reasons for his arrest, plus being saved from execution by his doctoral supervisor, Philipp Lenard, an avid Nazi supporter and anti-semite, also seem to make this extremely unlikely.

It therefore seems that this must have been an error on the part of the previous editor, who didn't give a source for this assertion (that Mayer was Jewish) which I could check on-line - so I've removed it and rewritten the section to include the other evidence, and to bring this in line with the Hans Ferdinand Mayer and Oslo Report articles.

Undoing edit by User 98.230.55.74

I've reverted this edit because the changes, e.g. from 'surrendered' to 'contacted', seem to be far too euphemistic.

This edit had also changed the following sentence, by omitting the italicised clause:
Particularly noteworthy was the fact that Plendl had saved a number of people, including many Jews, from the Dachau concentration camp, under the guise of needing them to work on his projects.

Neither the German Wikipedia article on Plendl, nor the online references cited there, shed any light on this matter, so I've added a 'citation needed' tag, rather than keep an unnecessary deletion.Bahudhara (talk) 02:21, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Work on V1 and V2 weapons?

Earlier versions of the article suggested that Plendl also contributed to the development of the V1 and V2 weapons, through a personal association with Wernher von Braun; however, this has been questioned by User:Bodhimeister [1], who is related to Plendl. Changes to article July 26, 2011

I edited the second and third paragraph of this article due to lack of citations and mistakes in events discussed and translation, e.g. "Staatsrat and Plenipotentiary of Long Range Bombing and High Frequency Research" from the previous version is a combination of two different titles that he held.
