Dutch sugar merchant

edit

The BBC episode[1] says Klencke was a Dutch sugar merchant and he gave the Atlas to help induce the King to buy sugar. Green Cardamom (talk) 16:17, 22 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Dutch Gift

edit

The article says:

arrived in November to present Charles II the Dutch Gift [3][4], consisting of furniture, a yacht, 24 paintings, twelve statues and the Klencke Atlas.

However, the sources don't say the Klencke Atlas was part of the Dutch Gift. Am I missing something? Green Cardamom (talk) 16:40, 22 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

The article is confusing. It reads:

1. The Atlas was presented to the King as part of the Dutch Gift 2. Klencke may or may not have been there. 3. Klencke presented the Atlas to the King.

These are all somewhat contradictory. Green Cardamom (talk) 16:10, 29 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
