Change article title to Jessie De La Cruz edit

I'm wondering if the article title should be Jessie De La Cruz rather than Jessie Lopez De La Cruz.

The back cover of the Gary Soto bibliography shows copies of various photo ID cards:

  • National Farm Workers Association issued to Jessie De La Cruz and dated May 1, 1965. The signature is not clear.
  • United Farm Workers issued to Jessie Fuentez De La Cruz and dated 9-28-72. She signed this Jessie Fuentez De La Cruz. (Fuentez was her step-father's name)
  • United Farm Workers issued to Jessie De La Cruz and expiring 09-09-96. She signed this Jessie De La Cruz.
  • United Farm Workers issued to Jessie De La Cruz and expiring 09-06-99. She signed this Jessie De La Cruz.
  • United Farm Workers issued to Jessie L. DELACRUZ and expiring 01-03-2001. She signed this Jessie L. De La Cruz.

Other evidence includes:

  • When she she gave congressional testimony on July 17, 1975 she started out with "My name is Jessie De La Cruz, ..."[1]
  • The Gary Soto biography is titled "Jessie De La Cruz".

In support of the existing title are:

  • The Ellen Cantarow collection of histories has a section on De La Cruz titled "Jessie Lopez De La Cruz".
  • The ABC News report covering her death uses Jessie Lopez De La Cruz.[2]

The UFW web site uses both "Jessie De La Cruz" and "Jessie Lopez De La Cruz" though I could not spot any articles written by people who seemed to know her personally and thus would have been familiar with which name(s) she used.[3]

Unfortunately, Google has not scanned/indexed any contemporaneous news articles (1900 to 2000) that would have documented the name she used.[4]

Google Books shows both names were in use.[5]
