Requested edits edit

Hi - I am submitting the following proposed edits to this article. Many of the proposed changes here are in response to the Help message regarding the nature of sources previously cited in this article.

COI Discolsure: As noted on my personal bio page, I am acting on behalf of this subject, who is a client of my company. While the proposed changes below are accurate, it is important for me to make that COI clear for any editor wishing to work on these updates. I am happy to answer any questions as it relates to these proposed changes so that we can arrive at a fair, neutral update that more accurately represents the subject.

Details of requested edits

  1. In the first sentence (Jay Faison (born November 29, 1967) is an American entrepreneur and a conservative philanthropist from North Carolina), please replace "conservative" with "climate change" [1]
  2. In the last sentence of the intro paragraph, there is a "clarification needed" note. I am submitting this third party article as a source that helps demonstrate the scope of "conservative clean energy solutions", starting in paragraph 9 [2]
  3. Under Family life and education, please change "with his wife and three children..." to "with his wife Olga and their three children"
  4. Under Career, please make the following updates to the last sentence of paragraph one, which CURRENTLY reads: "SnapAV designs and distributes audio-visual equipment to integrators, from speakers to surveillance system.". Change to: "Today, SnapAV, renamed Snap One[3], is a publicly traded company is recognized as the leading supplier across 20 audio video industry categories, according to the CE Pro 100 Brand Analysis Study.[4]"
  5. Also under Career, please add the following statement: In 2015 Jay was named by Politico Magazine to the “Politico 50”, their annual ranking of the leading ideas changing politics and the people behind them.[5]
  6. Under Philanthropy, add this citation for the opening statement "Faison decided to sell his majority-share in SnapAV" [6]
  7. Under Philanthropy, as with the Help message noted above in the intro paragraph, I am submitting this third party article as a source that helps demonstrate the scope of "conservative clean energy solutions", starting in paragraph 9 [7]
  8. Under Philanthropy, please remove the statement "He runs the foundation as its Managing Partner"
  9. Under Philanthropy, please remove the statement: "ClearPath specifically promotes nuclear, natural gas, carbon capturing technologies for gas and coal generation, hydropower and innovation. The organization's mantra is "more innovation, less regulation."
  10. Under Philanthropy, please add the following statement: In 2018 Faison renamed the ClearPath Foundation the 2040 Foundation[8] and set up ClearPath with a separate 501-C3 status. The portfolio of the 2040 Foundation expanded to flooding and climate adaptation[9]. Faison has helped social entrepreneurs in this space build organizations to address flooding. Two examples are the First Street Foundation and The American Flood Coalition where Faison serves as Chairman.[10]
  11. Under Media, please remove the following statement as the referenced Op Ed is from 2016: "Faison published an Op-Ed with Senate Energy Committee Chairman Lisa Murkowski in January 2016 titled: ‘Stop Wasting America’s Hydropower Potential."

Implementation Thank you for complying with Wikipedia's COI guidelines. I have   Partly done the above request. For future requests, note that one of the factors that may cause these to go unfulfilled for a long time is the failure to specify what you want to add. For example, simply linking to the Washington Examiner article does not tell me what you are trying to gather from it, and requires that make that determination based on reading the source myself at a greater length.

  1.   Partly done — Conservative is a relevant adjective widely used in reliable sources. Reworded to "conservative philanthropist focused on climate change". The NYT article you cite literally includes "conservative" in the headline.
  2.   Done
  3.   Done in connection with below (it appears the clarification tag was removed already).
  4.   Not done — Please review WP:IMPARTIAL and WP:PROMO, related guidelines on promotional tone and puffery.
  5.   Not done — See above, as well as WP:RESUME. In general, we are averse to highlighting "[Number] doing [Thing]" or "Best [Number] of [Somethings] under [Age]" listicles, etc., because they are of questionable value beyond promotion and rarely reflect substantive coverage of the subjects involved.
  6.   Done see above.
  7.   Not done — please provide grounds for the change.
  8.   Not done — ditto.
  9.   Not done — For the latter statements, non-primary sources are preferred. The Observer article is paywalled, so what specific text you are quoting would be appreciated, at which point I can include it in the article.
  10.   Done, in that I removed that entire section. Relisting what sources have written about him is not useful for encyclopedic content and borders on treating the article like a resume.
