I took out a bunch of meaningless nonsense and other stuff that didn't make sense. Added a few things to, hopefully, make this article a bit more competent. Twac

I thought Jason Martin was married to the girl from the band Bon Voyage, but I was surprised to see no reference to this or much other personal information. Can anyone authoritatively supply some more info here?

(Jason is most definitely married to Julie, who was in Havalina Rail Co. and only after they were married became the frontwoman for Bon Voyage http://www.popmatters.com/music/interviews/starflyer59-030911.shtml )

This article has too much point of view and no references

I have tried to tone it down the POV in this as there statements have to go;

1. "In the past, Jason Martin had a retro 50's look as is evident in his "Housewife Love Song" video where the fashion, sideburns, and even kitchen appliances depict the 50's era. Jason has also been pictured on motorcycles with his collar up and long sideburns." - what is the relevance of this? It adds nothing and is COMPLETELY UNREFERENCED
2. "some songs are simply words without any deeper meaning. " says who? They may have meaning to him. AGAIN, UNREFERENCED.
3. "Since 1993, Jason has developed a small but dedicated following of his music." Small? Compared to what? Who thinks it's small? - UNREFERENCED
4. " As is evident with his long career Jason has obviously had long term ambitions with his music." Do you have a crystal ball? How do we know this? AGAIN, UNREFERENCED.
5. "Starflyer 59 was one of the first bands on this label":

Starflyer 59 was the third album released on Tooth and nail. http://www.discogs.com/label/Tooth+&+Nail+Records

I agree with the above. Why go on about the whole "50's" thing? J. Martin hasn't sported that particular look in years. That Starflyer fan site is way old and ought not be referenced. It is extremely out of date.C&R

Well, I've referenced everything that seemed to need a reference. The article is much better now, but certainly not complete. It would be good to add some information about Jason Martin's family. Shouldn't be anything too detailed or too personal. Just something about how he's got a wife and how him and his wife formed Bon Voyage together. C&R

Needs work

This is a poorly written article and needs some work. Preferably from someone who knows what they are talking about and will write facts and instead just asserting their own general idea of Mr. Martin. But I doubt that anyone ever reads this "discussion page" anyway and I will probably end up having to improve this article myself.

My changes

I removed the first reference for Jason being best known as a member of Starflyer. I don't think every little thing like that needs to be referenced (it's obvious after a long career and it's not something that's in doubt). This was the link though, just in case anyone is curious.

I also adjusted the references to use <ref> and added a references section and used Template:cite web. I recommend using citation templates, especially for web sites since they can go "out of date", it's best to know the title, author, and when it was retrieved. The 2nd footnote is currently returning a site error; it could be temporary or it could be gone for good.

I removed the fan site because it's outdated and I don't believe fan sites are even necessary, per se, unless they contain a lot of information that is not available elsewhere. Otherwise it seems just like advertising? I also removed The Brothers Martin Myspace link because that should be on that page instead of here. Added "see also" section for the other bands.

Also made some minor grammatical tweaks and wiki link tweaks. I think that's about it. :) –– gRegor 03:01, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
