James Markham Marshall at the Biographical Directory of Federal Judges, a publication of the Federal Judicial Center. A puzzling source. As of my visit today, it has nothing except an empty section entitled "Federal Judicial Service" on his judicial service, but obviously there was something there when the bot generated the article in 2009. Marshall's article at Judgepedia.org has the information, but cites the same FJC source. United States Circuit Court of the District of Columbia has the information, but gives no source for its table of appointees that I can see. Appletons' calls him one of the Midnight Judges, appointed around the same time, but under a different statute. He has an article in Dictionary of American Biography, so maybe that can throw some light on the issue. Bob Burkhardt (talk) 22:37, 27 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
