Does anyone know they exact quote from when Sawyer called Shannon "sticks"? I think it went something like: "You're in my light, sticks." "Light sitcks?" "Light, comma, sticks as in those long legs of yours"

But I'm not sure. Do we put it on this page since he already gave an explanation for the name?

Boat Captain's nickname

Should the nickname Sawyer gave the leader of the others be included in this list? He called him Zeke(Possible reference to the biblical Ezekel, having to do with the man's bearded appearance).--Wilson(cc) 21:24, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

It's already on the list, but I'm not too sure how accurate the source of the nickname is. I guess the reason Sawyer called him "Zeke" is up for debate. Jtrost 22:38, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Zeke is more likely a reference to Muppet's bearded band member, Zeke. See: [1]. Also, I've corrected his "name" to "Mr. Friendly" based on the Carlton Cuse/Damon Lindelof from the latest podcast—LeFlyman 17:46, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

I think it's more likely that Zeke was intended as a generic "mountain man"/hillbilly/redneck name. The Muppet character is extremely obscure.--whysanitynet 21:37, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Nickname "Reason"

The entire "Reason" column for nicknames is purely speculative, with no underlying verifiable sources-- just based on the guesses of whomever adds them. Further, it's unnecessary, as the "Reference" column does much the same thing without the extended Original Research that "Reason" does. Never done a good thing in his life?

Couldn't it be argued that, when Sawyer refused to go through with a con as he watched the couple's young son walk into the room, this was one of the good things he did in his life? Nicknames

My favorite, "Rambina" for Ana Lucia, isn't on here! So, I'd like to see an extensive list, if not on this page then on another that it links to.

Sun's nickname

in some episode sawyer also calls sun "betty" although i dont know which one.
(I too also recall Sawyer calling Sun "Betty", and this was in "...In Translation", where Jin is accused of burning down the raft. I believe the following quote verifies this:
Sun "My husband is many things, but he is not a liar."
Sawyer "You wanna lecture us about lyin', Betty?")

Michael's nickname

sawyer also calls him daddy in Whatever The Case may Be when Michael says something along the lines of "If you can open that case I'll fly you to los Angeles myself on my back" and Sawyer says "You better find a runway, daddy." Personally I think sawyer not going through with the con when he sees that couple's son is a good thing. I think he doesn't want the same thing that happened to him to happen to another child.

Kato

When Sawyer refers to Jin as 'Cato' he is more likely alluding to Burt Kwuok's character in The Pink Panther, (who was based on Kato from the Green Hornet). It seems like he would have been more familiar with this source material. h7dders 13:59, 26 September 2006 (BST)

Hoss or Boss?

I had heard Sawyer call people (specifically Pickett, I believe, or one of the Others who was giving him orders) "Boss" - was I just misunderstanding him saying (as written here) "Hoss"? Riverbend 19:55, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

I thought he called Kate "Shortcake" because he had just told her (a few seconds earlier) that she tastes like strawberries, not necessarily because Straw. Sawyer called Pickett "Boss" (Glass Ballerina) as well as "Broken-Nose Man" (Every Man for Himself). He only has one nickname beside his name, I would add it but I am having trouble getting it to look right. Riverbend 23:56, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

I think that highlights from the list should be incorporated into the text - a note on his penchant for nicknames and a few main examples. It would be almost impossible to ever make this list complete, and some of the rationales just seem fuzzy, so it will just probably continue to grow out of control if it is not removed. The removing and reinserting of this has gotten excessive - it seems like the general opinion is that it should go. The nicknames are an important element of Sawyer's character, but I believe that their importance can be expressed fine with a paragraph, rather than an extended list. Alternatively, if there is still disagreement, we could maybe reduce the list down to JUST popcultural nicknames, which would make it smaller and possibly more manageable. But it would still have some guesswork (for example, El Jacko - spanish title, possibly michael jackson), and then we could just argue forever about what counts as pop culture. I'm just a visitor to this article but edit Wikipedia heavily. I came to this article specifically to view the nickname list. I was a bit taken aback that it was removed and had to go into the history to find it. This information should not be removed - it was a valuable addition to the article. Keep it in. Any specific rationalle for keeping it other than it satisfies your curiosity. I contributed the list and found it extremely hard to phrase why Sawyer called someone that name. Its hard to express and it was my own interpretation. Any section that is not based on hard facts and just what a person thinks it might be should never be on Wikipedia. Any time I have vistited this article (which has been a few) it was to find out about Sawyer's nicknames. I viewed it as a user and not an editor. Perhaps I'm an oddity... It just seem to me to be relavent to Sawyer's character and information that was worth having in the article - it was worth having for me as a reader. I thought the question was Jack's father? It says clearly that Christian Shepherd is Jack's father (a fact) and says that Anthony Cooper is Locke's father (a fact). I guess I don't understand the question. Perhaps what is confusing you is that Anthony Cooper was never in Australia. Sawyer believed him to be and so went, but it was not him. What Sawyer whisperled to Kate

Do the additions being made to the article - claiming that when whispering to Kate in the helicopter, Sawyer said something about his daughter in Alabama - sourced? Or just speculation? -- Chuq (talk) 11:13, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Article name

This article's name is kinda unappropriate. Isn't Sawyer called "Sawyer" by everybody except for Ben, Locke and Kate (sometimes)?! Fans call him Sawyer, the Scripts says "Sawyer", etc. – I mean, Kate is called "Katherine" in the courtroom and by her mother but her article is like "Kate Austen" and not "Katherine "Kate" Austen" and Benjamin Linus is listed as "Ben Linus". See, Christopher Turk from Scrubs is called "Turk" throughout the entire series and his Wikipedia article says "Turk (Scrubs)" of course. Even Bree Hodge from Desperate Housewives who goes by this name for two seasons now has her article still named "Bree Van de Kamp" because it's the more common name. Consistency with Sawyer's name

From the beginning of the article, up to the season four section, Sawyer is referred to as 'Sawyer'. From the season four section onwards, he is referred to as 'James'. We should probably be consistent with the naming throughout the article. Btornado (talk) 03:15, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Flash-Sideways (FS) Sawyer's DOB

Early on in Recon, FS Sawyer is on the phone, asking if an Anthony Cooper was in Alabama in 1976. The folder found by FS Charlotte with a newspaper clipping, and the conversation FS Sawyer has with FS Miles all indicate FS Sawyer was 9 years; old in 1976, putting his birthdate at 1967, rather than 1968 for the Original Sawyer.
