[[ This is Jack Rieley. Odd to see Wikipedia identifying me as 'manager' of the Beach Boys, because I never was manager. I recall being offered the title, which I rejected immediately. I was responsible for their Creative Direction, and that was the title I accepted. I have never read a book about the group and avoided even glancing at any article about them until last November, when a friend told me about some hilarious inaccuracies that made me a bit curious. Based on what I have read - only a couple dozen articles - it is fascinating to see myths often favored over facts. Oh yes - I quit (was not fired) at the end of recording Holland, after I decided to stay in The Netherlands. At the group's request, I agreed to fly out to L.A. a couple times for planning talks with a couple of the guys, but stopped doing even that after a few months. ]]

Absurd edit

Others had previously informed me that the Wikipedia entry about me included false assertions and at least one libelous assertion. I read the entry in full on 3/19/08 and then used the site's available editing tools to advise that an assertion about me that caught my attention was false, and to provide the facts instead. Be aware: any claim that I did not quit but was fired by the Beach Boys is false and libelous. I was unaware of this false assertion in Wikipedia until 3/19/08. Today, 3/20/08, I see that my intervention was removed from the article page, leaving the false and libelous assertion to go unchallenged, although that assertion should have been deleted. I consider this new situation absurd, irresponsible and potentially injrious to me, personally and professionally. I simply removed your edit from the article and moved it to the talk page because of the form of your contribution. If you had improved the article with these facts I wouldn't have touched it, but in this form they really didn't belong there. It was not my intention to damage you in any way. In fact, I'm a big Beach Boys fan and I admire what you did for the band. Fnorp (talk) 15:12, 22 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Death ? edit

Please remember we need a reliable reference before changing the article to show that he is dead. Rumors on Twitter don't count. --Racklever (talk) 07:31, 27 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Inventor of the Fax? edit

That is a very bold claim, and while I do see that he has a patent around fax technology, it is from the 1990s which is obviously way after faxes existed. Can we clarify here?
