editThere's some doubt whether the Wild Colonial Boy was originally about Donahue. The ballad that's certainly about Donahue is "Bold Jack Donahue". At least some authors believe that the subject of "The Wild Colonial Boy" was a much more obscure bushranger called Jack Doolan, who was killed in 1861, 30 years after Donahue was shot. Date of Death
editThe article states, "Donahue was with William Webber and John Walmsley when a police party came across them on 30 September 1830." Donahue was killed on 1 September 1830 both according to other locations in this same article and other sources. The earlier date is no doubt correct, so how did the 30 September date get there? I am tempted to change it, but it just seems so mysterious that I thought I would at least ask about it first. Michael Hurwicz (talk) 23:40, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
