Le nom de la ville de Thessalonique en 1876 était Salonique : c'était une ville importante de l'empire Ottoman. Les habitants étaient sujets ottomans et non grecs. Plutôt que juifs grecs, il s'agissait de juifs ottomans issus d'Espagne "séfarad"): leur langue vernaculaire était le ladino (espagnol du XVème siècle, utilisant des mots turcs et hébreux). The lead paragraph of this article contains an acronym "CIC". Unfortunately, it points to a disambiguation page, and I don't know what "CIC" represents. Would somebody please either point "CIC" to the exact Wiki article or spell out the acronym? Thanks.
