Talk:Inventory of Church Property

Article name edit

Is the name of the article a proper noun or should it be in lower case?--PinkBull 19:28, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

That's the way it was in the Catholic Encyclopedia, as a title. As for Church, that tends to refer to the Roman Catholic Church (there are certain accounting standards pre-dating any national accounting standards) which would be proper. If the article was about other churches then lower case. Property should be lower case, no question. JASpencer (talk) 20:03, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry, but I don't exactly understand. Are you saying that since the Catholic Encyclopedia used "Inventory of Church Property" as a title we should do the same?--PinkBull 23:33, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed Deletion edit

I don't think that it would be a good idea to delete the entry - at least through the Proposed Deletion process. Not only is it a Catholic Encyclopedia entry (so at the very least not an uncontroversial deletion, but as church property were for centuries the only significant corporate holdings in most of Western Europe, then the way in which they were accounted for in order to stop them becoming the plaything of the incumbent were rather important. It was this concern that helped bring in clerical celibacy, so it was not a mere trifle.
