Why does TechWorld redirect to this article? I don't find anything in the article that mentions TechWorld or relates it to InfoWorld. --MelanieN (talk) 13:57, 24 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

InfoWorld year - volume reference

edit

Unfortunately, many InfoWorld citations in Wikipedia don't mention the |volume= and |issue= numbers of this newspaper, although this information belongs into a proper citation.

Most probably, this is because many people just refer to the scanned versions of the paper as provided by Google Books. Since it is sometimes difficult to look up the volume info there or to decipher them in the sometimes weak scans, here is a reference list for all print issues of InfoWorld between 1979 and 2007.

I hope this helps a bit when verifying and/or retrofitting volume information in/to WP citations:

  • 1979: Volume 1
  • 1980: Volume 2
  • 1981: Volume 3
  • 1982: Volume 4
  • 1983: Volume 5
  • 1984: Volume 6
  • 1985: Volume 7
  • 1986: Volume 8
  • 1987: Volume 9
  • 1988: Volume 10
  • 1989: Volume 11
  • 1990: Volume 12
  • 1991: Volume 13
  • 1992: Volume 14
  • 1993: Volume 15
  • 1994: Volume 16
  • 1995: Volume 17
  • 1996: Volume 18
  • 1997: Volume 19
  • 1998: Volume 20
  • 1999: Volume 21
  • 2000: Volume 22
  • 2001: Volume 23
  • 2002: Volume 24
  • 2003: Volume 25
  • 2004: Volume 26
  • 2005: Volume 27
  • 2006: Volume 28
  • 2007: Volume 29

Deriving the exact issue numbers from the publication dates is a bit more complicated since the publication switched from monthly to weekly delivery, and also there are a few special issues like double-issues not following the usual scheme. Nevertheless, for convenience, here is a list of most issues between 1986 and 2007:

Note that in this Google Books list some issues are missing and the listed volume numbers are not correct in a few case. Also, some of the shown magazine covers are mixed up.
