RfC: Is Schrager's Criminal Conviction and Incarceration relevant?

Is the fact that Ian Schrager was arrested, convicted, and incarcerated for tax evasion relevant? Absolutely. With appropriate reliable and verifiable sources, details of his conviction and incarceration are relevant and appropriate for inclusion here. Alansohn (talk) 21:06, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

All of the following is as of this moment completely obsolete and refers to older versions of the article. I already tried deleting it before but some busybody enforced wikipedia's growing mediocrity and put it all back, wasting all of your time.

you're right, but think about it: there is not much to say about Ian Schrager, he IS an industry bio. The article should be hugely trimmed down to say that he founded Studio 54, went to jail, restarted himself as a successful hotelier, list the hotels, and ... done.

there is more to say about him but can be npov - need more facts and references. Regardless of people's personal feelings, in his industry he is an important figure

The way I see it, if there some other article (say, in the design or architecture sections) that talks about "effortless living", then Shrager can have credit for it. But it is wrong to create lift ideas like that and "lobby socializing" from the hotel marketing materials. Anyway, I removed this much, and probably what's left could use some clean up:

Shrager has done more than most to harm New York by turning communities into upper class shopping malls. Any real new yorker would be glad to hear the guy died of aids, and happy to watch him suffer.
