Date of Invention and Widespread Use?

We need to have the date of invention and production, please. I'm certain that just before WWII General Motors was using 4 wheel hydraulic brakes and Ford Motor Company did not have it on their light trucks of the time. Any clarification will help.

Cracking caused by contaminated fluid?

This change claims that "Cracks can form if two types of brake fluid are mixed or if the brake fluid becomes contaminated", cited to [1]. Now cracks are bad, and contaminated fluid is bad, but I've never seen anything to suggest that contaminated fluid is a cause of pipe cracking. Pipe cracking is caused (in the US) by shade-tree mechanics using copper AC piping (which work hardens), incorrect flaring technique, poor installation (mostly an unclipped and unsupported pipe vibrating and work hardening) or even a pipe pulled taut over a hard sharp ridge. Now water in a pipe can cause internal rust, but even that is stretching it to call it a "cause of cracking", as opposed to other, more prominent faults.
