Hi kids. I read a few years back that more gold was taken from the Homestake than any other single mine within the USA. Wondering if this information is verifiable. Obbop mumbled this in a fit of sanity on a dark frigid night within the shanty. 68.13.191.153 02:06, 5 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Greetings, I spent nearly 19 years working the Homestake. In answer to your question, I doubt that this is a verifiable fact. Quite probably it is true, the production records are probably still held someplace in the archives, but who knows where. The problemm lies in the other operations one is comparing it to. Are their records accurate? All I can tell you, having personally blasted rounds from the 800 ft. level to the 8,000 ft level, it was, and is a truly impressive operation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.53.235.189 (talk) 19:16, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Homestake gold deposit is by far the largest single gold producing deposit in the United States. The Homestake Mine is one of the largest known hydrothermal gold deposits globally, with total mining production exceeding 40 Moz.
