Talk:History of the National Rugby League

Latest comment: 7 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

I really think this page should only deal with the history of the NRL and link to the ARL and NSWRL pages. As it is now we've got the same stuff typed out in more than one page.--Jeff79 20:54, 24 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

removed histories of NSWRL and ARL and instead inserted links to the previous competitions.--Jeff79 00:53, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

NRL Premiers Table

edit

Just a small thing. I don't know how to fix it. I think the "Grand Final Information" heading in that table should span across the venue and crowd columns as well as the teams and score, as they too contain information about the grand final. Only the Minor Premiers column isn't about the grand final. Anyone know how to fix that?--Jeff79 19:20, 8 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Future

edit

Good work on the Future section. But I think it deserves inclusion in the National Rugby League article, as this article deals exclusively with the history. By all means the past attempts at inclusion should be included in the relevant timeframe of the history article. But regarding the NRL's future expansion, I think it's something to be dealt with on the main NRL article.--Jeff79 19:35, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merge with Main article

edit

I really think that this should be merged with the main article, it just has so much good info here which many people won't see because it's only sub-page. Bongomanrae 03:46, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I would like to reiterate, this article is pointless and all info is in the main article, this should be deleted. Anyone agree?Anderch (talk) 04:04, 3 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sure, as long as nothing's accidentally lost.--Gibson Flying V (talk) 06:50, 3 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
I have read through it an it is essentially a carbon copy of the main NRL page. In addition according to this page the history stops at 2007. All tables are copies from other pages, so there is not really any new info here. If no one has any issue I propose to delete it in 1 week (12 March 2014). Anderch (talk) 05:25, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Go for it, as long as no referenced content is deleted as you've done at National Rugby League.--Gibson Flying V (talk) 09:02, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Rename and Rescope

edit

I propose we rename and re-scope this article away from just the NRL to become a History of Rugby League in Australia. It's a big change but I think it might be better for us in the long run. At the moment we have the history of RL in Australia spread over the NSWRL/SL/ARL/NRL pages, the specific season pages, the History_of_Rugby_League#Australasia and so on. IMO we aren't really organised with info spread everywhere in bits and pieces like that, if we consolidated a lot of it onto the History of RL in Oz and the specific season pages then that might help us keep the information better organised. Thoughts? Bongomanrae (talk) 08:02, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:That's My Team.png

edit

Image:That's My Team.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Shocking Article

edit

Sorry, but rugby league didn't just spring out of the ground in 98 - like Jeff might think. I propose we rename this article History of First Grade Rugby League in Australia and include the entire competition from 1908 to present. 211.27.246.105 (talk) 12:23, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
