This article would look ao good if it was wikified.

I will try to find some verifiable external links for it

POV

edit

The Chavez part is heavy POV. Especially the fact that many Jewish representatives stepped up in Defense of Chavez is underrepresented. If this is not going to change in a month, I will delete this part. --84.74.154.87 (talk) 01:36, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

TABLET article good resource for this section

edit

http://www.tabletmag.com/jewish-news-and-politics/88901/the-dispossessed Chavez's victory yesterday sent new fears throughout the Jewish community in Venezuela, The Tablet reported yesterday. This is a long, well- documented article about the Jews under Chavez. Profhum (talk) 23:10, 9 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Possible new article

edit

I am proposing that a new article should be created, possibly titled "Antisemitism in Venezuela".

These are the following reasons:

  • The current History of the Jews in Venezuela article is heavily slanted toward recent events and such data should not be removed but placed somewhere else.
  • The current History of the Jews in Venezuela article is becoming large for the wrong reasons.
  • The notability of anti-Semitism in Venezuela has been continuous throughout the Bolivarian government's history.
  • There is much more than can be expanded upon information involving anti-Semitism in Venezuela that would not be proper to add to an article solely discussing the History of the Jews in Venezuela.

As with previous discussions I began on other talk pages, let us please stay on topic.--ZiaLater (talk) 17:31, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm surprised there isn't such an article already, although this article nearly reads like one, hence the new article proposal. Obviously the topic of Antisemitism by country is valid. I just worry the article will end up being little more than a list of overly-detailed recent events (as this article largely is and many Venezuela-oriented articles have become) rather than an encyclopedic rendering of the topic. Antisemitism in Turkey looks like a good article on such a topic, although the lead is a bit barren.  Mbinebri  talk ← 14:47, 14 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
I proposed this since there are many similar articles. There are sources from David Harris, who was/is the Executive Director of the American Jewish Committee where he explained the history of Jews in Venezuela saying that antisemitism has only seemed to grow recently and many Jews were reluctant to leave Venezuela because they were tired of seeking a home. I will make the article since it is valid and many other countries have it, but please watch over it. I may add a little more since I have some to expand on but not too much. I will also try to show all of the history behind antisemitism in Venezuela but it may be tough.--ZiaLater (talk) 20:53, 14 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
Ok, the article is created an I will cut down some of the content here and link it to the newly created article later.--ZiaLater (talk) 01:38, 15 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
Nice work! bobrayner (talk) 03:03, 15 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Per WP:PROPERSPLIT, when splitting an article into parent/child articles, a summary—"usually of a couple of paragraphs"—is left behind in place of the moved content along with a hatnote, so I went ahead and did this since the new article was created yesterday.  Mbinebri  talk ← 18:07, 15 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Mbinebri, I was going to do it later but thanks for saving be the work!--ZiaLater (talk) 20:40, 15 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in History of the Jews in Venezuela

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of History of the Jews in Venezuela's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Correction Suggestion

edit

The sentence below from the section “19th century” may need modification:

Unfortunately, twenty-eight years later, a violent act of anti-Semitism meant that the entire Coro Jewish population of 168 individuals was expelled by govern back to Curacao.

Is “govern” perhaps meant to be “governor” or “government”? ChinaChuck (talk) 16:11, 14 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
