There's a decent chunk there but then there is in the main article too, so there's certainly some redundancy there. A merge seems reasonable to me provided it is a genuine one: i.e the content is properly integrated as oppose to what happens too frequently: - the less preferred article gets deleted under cover of a merge. I actually think there is enough information out there to make this a GA article, there are actually signifigant gaps in the material provided that can be filled. For example nothing at has yet been included about the islands history during world war two, despite the fact that there was an airbase here and that it was attacked by the Japanese.XavierGreen (talk) 22:02, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Okay, but is there going to be so much as to make Palmyra Atoll unwieldy enough to warrant a split? Obviously it's preferred to keep all this information together as much as we can. Let's look at that article as a country article: there's going to be next to no information about demographics, culture, economy, etcetera... So is there really all that much potential for growth here that it can't be done at Palmyra Atoll instead? Nightw04:37, 16 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
