Need more pictures edit

The article needs screenshots of FS 3.0, FS 5.0, FS98, FS2002 and FSX to be complete (picture wise). If that sounds too much, the 11 screenshots can be put in a gallery section of their own. ---Majestic- 21:22, 6 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

The FS4 photo should be replaced too. It's poor quality, although is a little cool in that it shows of FS3 and FS4 at the same time.--Anss123 23:13, 6 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Aircraft Comparison edit

I've added FS1.0 through FS4.0 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.173.173.223 (talk) 10:16, 27 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't think the learjet was included in FS2. -- GIR — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.47.81.141 (talk) 11:46, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
I agree I have flight simulator amd manual for ibm pc dated 1984 (4 color version) and there was no learjet. Also it included the wwI simulation - LJC —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.23.142.232 (talk) 22:56, 11 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why a gallery? edit

I'm just wondering, why are the screenshots of FS1-10 in a gallery? Wouldn't it be better to align each next to its corresponding version? I'd do it but I'm not sure if it's intended or not. --RazorICE 03:42, 24 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think you're right, I agree it would be better if each picture was aligned to it's respective FS version. -- Rehnn83 Talk 07:50, 24 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

New FS1 animation edit

Hello, I am offering you a new subLOGIC Flight Simulator 1 for Apple II animation gif. Just use it if you like it. It is available here: http://web.telecom.cz/josef.havlik/A2-FS1.gif It has the same resolution as current one on the site. Regards, Josef — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.160.81.13 (talk) 14:04, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes that animation is a good deal better than mine. I had no clue what I was doing, and was happy I got the plane in the air. I’ll assume you're aware of Wikipedia's rather liberal license, and that your image will crop up on commercial sites?
I would have preferred a size of 180x113 (same as the other images), but we'll take it.

Fan site? Rewrite? edit

Who put the fan site and rewrite tags on this article? Would you care to explain why you thought this article is like a fan site and needs a rewrite? Otherwise, I'm removing the tags. --Vossanova o< 17:06, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree that three tags at the start of the article is a bit excessive. The user in question was Wikihermit.
--Anss123 18:08, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I don't believe that any of the tags are appropiate. The article (to me) does not appear as a fan site. As for citations - yes perhaps there could be more - but to tag the article as being totally un-cited/un-referenced is wrong. As for a complete re-write - I'm not so sure, yes the article can still be improved but as for re-writing it I disagree. -- Rehnn83 Talk 10:55, 18 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
As no Explanation for the tags has been given (and no support offered I have removed them. -- Rehnn83 Talk 15:02, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Microsoft Flight Simulator 3.0 screenshot.png edit

Image:Microsoft Flight Simulator 3.0 screenshot.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

FS1 screenshots edit

The image posted of FS1 is in fact (I think) FS2 for DOS. Here is a shot of FS1:

FSX image edit

The FSX image really doesn't do justice to what FSX can actually do. I could do a better picture but really still not the best it can be. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CipherPixel (talkcontribs) 10:34, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with File:Fsx screenshot 1.jpg edit

The image File:Fsx screenshot 1.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --20:32, 7 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

End of Flight simulator? edit

I noticed thee BBC says flight simulator will be discontinued (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7902468.stm). I don't know if this is true, and don't know anything about flight simulator, I just thought I'd bring it up. Armoured Rabbit (talk) 22:57, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please, correct few serious mistakes here. edit

The Microsoft Flight Simulator 2 box cover here is not the right cover. It is the subLOGIC Flight Simulator II for Apple II cover. The right cover is for example here http://www.volny.cz/havlikjosef/coversenglish.htm

The Microsoft Flight Simulator 1.00 for IBM PC has already 4 colors (on color composite monitors only. So it was not only monochromatic. The proof picture is here http://www.volny.cz/havlikjosef/historyenglish.htm

The frame rate of the A2-FS1 animated picture is NOT fairly consistent with the simulator running on original hardware. I made the picture, so I must know.

Also, Microsoft Flight is not and was never intended by Microsoft, to be a "flight simulator". It also was not intended to "replace flight simulator". Per Microsoft, it was a flying game, intended to bring new people into the realm of flying on the computer (aka, it was itnended to bring in more money than they did with flight simulator....it didn't work). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.115.217.70 (talk) 05:38, 10 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Aircraft add-ons edit

I'm concerned about the recent additions of aircraft in the table at the bottom of the article, which are only included in third party add-ons such as those from Mallard. I think this opens the door for anyone to include any aircraft included in any third party addons, which could count into the hundreds. I think we can get away with mentioning *some* of the more notable add-ons in the paragraphs, but I would like to remove any non-Microsoft aircraft from the table. --Vossanova o< 17:00, 11 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, what aircraft are you referring to? as far as I know they are all in one or more versions of Flight Simulator? FFMG (talk) 17:34, 11 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
See History of Microsoft Flight Simulator#Aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator - Beechcraft Baron 55, North American T-6D Texan, and Northrop T-38 Talon, for example, and these footnotes:
  • AF – Aircraft is included together with the Aircraft Factory add-on for FS4.
  • FSFS – Aircraft is included together with the Flight Simulator Flight Shop add-on for FS5.
  • AF99 – Aircraft is included together with the Aircraft Factory 99 add-on for FS98.--Vossanova o< 20:13, 11 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Section -- Aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator and Lockheed Martin Prepar3D edit

Is this section really needed in the article? Seems a little gameguidish to me. 50.178.161.154 (talk) 15:41, 13 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'll comment here - I do agree that this table falls within the realm of WP:GAMEGUIDE and so I will remove it on that basis.   ArcAngel   (talk) ) 02:22, 7 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, finally getting some consensus on this. I tried to remove it in the past, but it keeps getting put right back in. TheWizardOfAhz (talk) 03:48, 7 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Table, FS9 and B737 edit

It's stated that it's an Boeing 737-400. But the included B737 it's not any perticular B737. Instead the Boeing 737 serves as a kind of base jet airliner cockpit, and as a provider of jet engine sounds and basic gauges. There are many different B737-X00 to download as add-ons for FS9 though. Boeing720 (talk) 19:19, 24 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

I will provide new/better pictures if you please edit

I am up to providing new pictures in higher resolution and PNG format of all Flight Simulator versions mentioned here, specially for the old ones. The pictures will consist of the each version running with maxed out graphics, showing their capabilities, and aspect ratio correction on for some versions of Flight Simulator that need it these days. Torturephile (talk) 08:59, 17 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

That is not needed. We have to restrict the resolution of the images used as they are copyrighted. Please see WP:FAIRUSE and more specifically WP:IMAGERES for more information. Bjelleklang - talk 09:54, 17 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
Ah, OK. They would have been made by me but I would have released them as public domain. Thanks for the quick answer. Torturephile (talk) 06:59, 22 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
