"High street stores != specialised, exclusive and expensive outlets"?
"The term "High Street" is used to describe stores found on a typical high street to differentiate them from more specialised, exclusive and expensive outlets (often independent stores) ". This statement isn't referenced, and I'm dubious about the claim. AFAIK, a "high street store" (really, should be "shop" as its a Britishism) is primarily defined by the sort of location it serves (major town-centre shopping district, as opposed to out-of-town retail parks, mail-order retailers, corner-shops in residential districts, etc). That may affect the nature of the shops found there, but a specialised, exclusive, expensive, or independent shop on the high street would still be a "high-street shop". - The easiest way to verify this is to do a google search for "cheaper than the high street", for example, you can find sources referring to "High Street" in this context here and here (there are more examples, but they're tabloid newspapers). Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:18, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
