Princely parentage

Documentation needed to include further background. Allegedly, he was the illegitimate child of a liaison between Joseph, Baron von Laßberg (1770-1855) and Elizabeth, Dowager Princess of Fürstenberg, née Princess of Thurn and Taxis, (1767-1822). Their alleged son Liebenau became the ward of Philipp Lüthert, a doctor in Reiden. After studying medicine in Germany and Austria, he obtained his doctorate at Berne in 1836. He became the chief physician in the Vatican to the Swiss Guard between 1855 and 1860, before returning to Lucerne. His scholarly specialty was the legends of medieval Switzerland, but he became something of a propagandist for Austrian influence in Switzerland, and died in Knutwiler Bad, Triengen in Lucerne, 28 July 1874.
