editThere is a merge proposal with Henry Cecil. But that article is about a jockey, who is an entirely different person! Oppose. I have merged with Henry Cecil (author), which is what must have been meant.--Sir Myles na Gopaleen (the da) (talk) 14:54, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Juror in Waiting
editI have removed Juror in Waiting (1970) from the list of Cecil's books because I have not been able to locate any evidence that this book actually exists. I have searched for it in Worldcat, the Library of Congress Catalog, review sites, and used-book sites and there is no evidence that anyone has a copy of this book.
Justice Denoted: The Legal Thriller in American, British, and Continental Courtroom Literature (Terry White, ed., Greenwood 2003) contains detailed descriptions of 27 Cecil books (entry nos. 1053 to 1079), representing every one of Cecil's published novels and story collections, and then states at the end, "Another is Juror in Waiting (1970)" with no description at all. This suggests to me that Juror in Waiting was once announced or contained on a list of Cecil's titles at some point, but no one was able to get hold of a copy. At this point I suspect that this will turn out to be either a book whose title was changed or a book that Cecil planned to write but didn't, or at best a very limited edition. I am trying to find out what I can, both for purposes of the Wikipedia article, and also because if there is a Henry Cecil book I haven't seen yet I would like to read it. Any information that anyone has would be appreciated. Newyorkbrad (talk) 19:57, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- The British Library catalogue doesn't list it either which, given that UK & Irish publishers are legally obliged to deposit a copy of everything they publish with the British Library, is pretty conclusive that it was never published (at least under that title). I think you must be on the right lines on how this mistake came about. --Dorset100 (talk) 17:23, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
