Heliculture redirect ?

I encountered this subject today in a crossword puzzle as "heliculture". I'm not sure why this article is spelled differently, but I see no reference to this other spelling, nor a redirect. Since this is entirely new to me, I'm suggesting that this articles author add something that redirects to the proper or more common usage, whichever it is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Timwarner (talk • contribs) 19:29, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

I made the word Heliculture into a redirect. A Google search shows that the word Heliciculture is used about 3 times as often online. Invertzoo (talk) 16:10, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Helix pomatia

According to the Helix pomatia page, "This species is never farmed". I don't know anything about the subject myself, so I would not know which page should be corrected, but it seems that we have a conflict here. I took the tag about wikibooks off the top of this article. It seems that no-one at all has worked on the draft that went into wikibooks, and so I can't say there is more info there than this is here... therefore I am putting this tag here on the talk page rather than in the article, which currently has more information than the wikibooks draft has. This seems to be an article of importance and it is in need of attention from someone who is familiar with the crucial need for inline citations, supporting each statement made in the article. I've left appropriate tags and will be happy to work with anyone who currently watches this article. Helix aspera?

The second paragraph of the intro says this:

Perhaps the best known edible land snail species in the Western world is Helix pomatia (also known as Roman snail or Burgundy snail). This snail is located throughout much of Europe. Cornu aspersum, being next most known, were found originally in the Mediterranean region. Helix aspera are now common in many parts of North America, Central America, and Australasia.

What is Helix aspera? I think it's a typo for Helix aspersa--but if so, why use that name directly after its modern name Cornu aspersum, long before giving any indication that they're different names for the same species?

Looking at the history, it looks like an anon added some information about Helix aspersa, under that name, but mispelled "spera", which was later incorrectly corrected, and then the first mention was changed to the modern name without anyone noticing that it made the rest of the paragraph unintelligible. So, I'm going to edit it under the assumption that either I've guessed right, or it will be obvious to someone what I've got wrong so they can fix it. --173.228.85.220 (talk) 07:54, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

Rephrasing the page

This page requires complete do-over, as there are numerous factual errors, mixups of information, and an illogical sequence of chapters. Respecting the content provided by previous authors, I will not delete without prior discussion - even if not suitable for this page, but correct and rephrase where required. This process will take some time though. I started with rephrasing the introduction (correcting factual erros) and reorganizing the TOC, a work in progress. Hi, I agree that the page could use a fresh start. Considering this talk page's updates are fairly sparse, I may start adding or reworking sections for clarity and flow.
