I changed the definition to reflect current consensus as presented on Harpguitars.net. I then corrected the caption on the image which was in error. Next, I deleted Jeff Martin and Robbie Robertson from Notable Players – these musicians, while famous for a rare appearance with a harp guitar, are not considered “notable players” of the harp guitar. Finally, I added additional external links to useful information. Gregg Miner

While I may be an expert on the harp guitar, I am an admitted novice at Wikipedia. As my major edit last week appears to have (so far) not raised any flags, I did these additional subtle edits: Removed the links in the "Notable" list that went to "No Entry Found" (or the wrong Stephen Bennett), leaving only the links to the 3 players who have current Wiki entries. Please note that in the definition, the sentence about notable players uses the word "includes" and does not list every notable player listed within the exhaustive Players page of Harpguitars.net - as "notable" will always be debatable. For instance, the short list within the definition was suggested by Harp Guitar Gathering founder Stephen Bennett, agreed to by the author (myself), and corroborated by the Harpguitars.net web site, which is continually peer-reviewed on the Harpguitars.net Forum. My suspicion is that many other players will add themselves to the list, whether appropriate or not, and I suggest that this be reasonably policed. I would prefer that the whole section go away, but don't believe I can or should make that decision. For now, I have not added the rest of the "notable" players (including myself) to that list. I understand that Wikipedia does not allow for any promotion, and will be curious to see if Anderson's and McKee's entries are allowed to remain intact in the long term. I would suggest that Don Alder's youtube link under External Links be removed, just to conform to Wikipedia rules, as it appears to be more promotional to me (I have nothing against Don, find him a fantastic guitar player, and hope to eventually be able to consider him a "notable" harp guitar player as well). People would still be able to find his video under the general youtube External Link I provided to the Harp Gutiar Video group, which contains all harp guitar videos (of every quality or skill level). I feel that, as a whole, this video group has clear informational and illustrative value, besides being also "promotional." I removed the external Mandolin Cafe link as it no longer links to the proper page, and additionally all those instruments have been permanently archived in the Harpguitars.net Galleries. I would appreciate any constructive, courteous feedback if I am breaking any Wikipedia rules or etiquette. Gregg Miner

Notable "Harp Guitarists"

I have to question the listing of every guitarist who happens to have picked up a harp guitar for one tine here or there as a "notable harp guitarist."

Jimmy Page? Robbie Robertson?

I guess the question is, does this section intend to list musicians who are primarily notable for their work on harp guitar? Or simply anyone who's ever picked up or recorded a tune with a harp guitar, and who happens to be notable for -any other reason-?

Also, there is a link to John Doan, who certainly -is- a notable harp guitarist, but his page seems to have been deleted for reasons not entirely clear. All good questions. I have flagged this section as original research. Like all similar lists in other articles, there is no clear criteria for what makes a person "notable" enough to be included. So all we are left with is a list of people who may (or may not) have played the harp guitar at one time. --Escape Orbit ^(Talk) 22:03, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
