Hands (Mike Perry, Sabrina Carpenter and The Vamps song)Hands (Mike Perry song) – Although credited as a collaboration on iTunes, I think the current title is unnecessarily long and the first credited artist is sufficient for disambiguation in this case. nyuszika7h (talk) 20:28, 14 June 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. • Support move per nom.  ONR  (talk)  22:19, 14 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Weak oppose per consistency. It wouldn't be "fair" to the other artists. There are also articles with longer titles so I don't see an issue. - TheMagnificentist 15:25, 18 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Weakish oppose no benefit from removing the artists. In ictu oculi (talk) 17:23, 22 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nom, the title is unnecessarily long. Three artists should not be in there, so I consider Mike Perry to be the main artist. 2601:8C:4001:DCB9:4139:8A44:5376:3869 (talk) 16:34, 27 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

The result of the move request was: To move to Hands (Mike Perry song), as per consensus; and argument provided by Nyuszika7H on 13:37, 14 July 2017 —usernamekiran(talk) 10:30, 21 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hands (Mike Perry, Sabrina Carpenter and The Vamps song)Hands (Mike Perry song) – I'm reopening this one month after the previous request, because the album by The Vamps that was just released lists the song as "Hands (feat. The Vamps & Sabrina Carpenter) – Mike Perry". This conflicts with the single's credits, but I'd follow the album credits, because it's more recent, and it's the "official" album of the song that it was made for, not just a random compilation. and as far as I know, we don't list featured artists in the article title unless it's required for disambiguation. nyuszika7h (talk) 09:31, 14 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose - it's probably an error in the album track list on iTunes. Most of the other major music service sites credit the other two artists as primary not as features - Spotify Beatport Tidal Deezer. - TheMagnificentist 10:45, 14 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
    • It's definitely not specific to iTunes. See Amazon and Google Play. Spotify and Tidal don't seem to make any distinction between collaborations and featured artists. The Beatport link points to the old single release, although I can't seem to find the album on that site (yet). Like I said, it's more likely that the old credits were a mistake, because they were commonly known as featured artists back then too (although I can't point to a reliable source for that, only the album release now). nyuszika7h (talk) 13:37, 14 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Hell, I am wiling to Support that move, just to get rid such a long parenthetical. Also, worth noting, is that The Vamps (British band) article says that this is a Perry song. Kellymoat (talk) 10:48, 14 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Support – There doesn't need to be three artists in the title, that makes it unnecessarily long for the viewer. 2601:8C:4001:DCB9:8979:B00A:4471:9EBE (talk) 23:18, 20 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Artist credits edit

@Nyuszika7H:, sources regard TV and SC as primary artists. The requested move was only for that (the title), it wasn't for deciding which artists appear as primary or feature. - TheMagnificentist 14:49, 23 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Nyuszika7H: If you want to edit war, it'll escalate into unnecessary situations. Best to discuss here. - TheMagnificentist 14:50, 23 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@TheMagnificentist: Please do not accuse me of edit warring, as I only reverted once. There certainly wasn't a strong consensus for the page move, but an uninvolved editor determined that there was one. Claiming that it only applies to the page title doesn't make sense, because the reason it was moved at all is because of the album's official credits, as the previous RM failed. It makes no sense to rename the article and have the contents disagree with it. And yes, I know that's what I was suggesting in the first RM, but I didn't do proper research as I just found two sources from May saying that Mike Perry is the primary artist, one even explicitly saying "featuring The Vamps and Sabrina Carpenter": [1] [2]. I'm not 100% sure on the reliability of these sources, but this is what I've found for now. What are your sources claiming the opposite? nyuszika7h (talk) 15:25, 23 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Nyuszika7H:The page was moved because the mover probably went for majority votes. As the IP voter said "There doesn't need to be three artists in the title, that makes it unnecessarily long for the viewer", they insinuated that the credit isn't the only reason to move the page. In the first RM, it wasn't moved because the long title was not an issue. These stream sites [3] [4] [5] [6] show the other two artists as primary. - TheMagnificentist 15:46, 23 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@TheMagnificentist: As much as I'd like to assume good faith, this just further proves that you are just trying to enforce your own preference. No, the closer didn't "just count votes", they even explicitly mentioned my argument as a reason for accepting the move. I've already told you that some sites you linked don't distinguish between collaborations and featured artists, while the others only have the single release which was originally credited that way, but now they decided to change the credits for the album's release. And here is the physical album cover which also lists Mike Perry as the primary artists and the other two as featured. nyuszika7h (talk) 09:47, 26 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Nyuszika7H: If only the news and streaming sites can come together on the same page and make a decision on the artist credits, but since they're all messed up and inconsistent, I concede. - TheMagnificentist 10:03, 26 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
I agree that it's a mess, but with the album release, the physical album and every streaming service that makes a distinction and has the album version of the song (there's no difference in the actual song, but it's a separate release) agree on "Mike Perry featuring The Vamps & Sabrina Carpenter", so I think it makes sense to follow that. And since the RM was clearly closed with that in mind (minus the physical album which is just another confirmation), even though the number of !votes was less than ideal, I believe it is the consensus for now. Anyway, I've also notified WikiProject Music now. Hopefully we get some participation here, as the notices left on WikiProject Songs and Electronic Music talk pages didn't result in any comments... nyuszika7h (talk) 10:32, 26 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
