editHello according to "The land of sunshine; a handbook of the resources, products, industries and climate of New Mexico" (1904) Hagerman was ... laid out in 1893 by the Pecos Valley Town Company, in Chaves county, and was fittingly named in honor of J. J. Hagerman of Colorado Springs, whose enterprise, sagacity and capital were the origin of the present great development. It is situated twenty-four miles southeast of Roswell, and is surrounded by thou- sands of acres of the choicest agricultural, fruit and grazing land in the country... .
