Bosnian and Croatian club edit

We have an ongoing dispute on if the club should have the prefix "Croatian" only or both "Bosnian" and "Croatian." This is the official stance of the club and since of the complex nature of the subject i suggest that we take this "two-schools under one roof" option in this case. Will prevent further conflicts. My opinion. Please share your opinion too and then we will make a consensus. Cheers. Hazbulator™ 19:03, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

Here are some clear and undisputed facts.
1) Zrinjski was founded in 1905 by croatian youth, and in our crest you can clearly see hrvatski športski klub (croatian sport club), therefore the club has a strong croatian identity, or is that a problem maybe?
2) Bosnia is a region, Herzegovina is a region, country name is Bosnia and Herzegovina (source: Wikipedia). If you say Bosnian team Sarajevo, that is correct, because Sarajevo is from Bosnia region, but Zrinjski is from Herzegovina region, now just use some common sense, or do I have to offer you explanation :D
So what is the problem with the following: Hrvatski športski klub Zrinjski Mostar' (English: Croatian Sports Club Zrinjski Mostar) is a Croatian football club based in the city of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The club plays in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The club is founded by croatian youth from, therefore croats from B&H, and it`s written very clear that the club is based in the city of Mostar, BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA (official state name). Explain to me, what`s the problem, what sentence is false or is disputable?

The problem is that the club is not a "Croatian club" in the sense that is generally understood in this context in articles and calling it so is out of line with the manner in which we refer to football clubs in general. The club is a Bosnian club because:
  1. "Bosnia" is essentially the common name for the country, no one really refers to the country by its full name, point number 2 above is really splitting hairs.
  2. The club is based in Bosnia.
  3. The club competes in Bosnian competitions.
As such the club should be referred to as a Bosnian football club. However, it is clear that the club was founded by Croats in Bosnia, so this is worthy of clarification in the lead. I would suggest though that the current phrasing that "is a Bosnian and Croatian football club" is confusing to the uninformed reader and they should not have to click on the links to understand what is meant.
To resolve this, I would suggest the following clarification: Hrvatski športski klub Zrinjski Mostar (English: Croatian Sports Club Zrinjski Mostar) is a Bosnian football club, founded by Croats, based in the city of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
How does that sound? Fenix down (talk) 08:09, 17 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

I disagree with you Fenix down. You are obviously not from Herzegovina region, and basically you are saying, no one calls the country by it`s full name... what kind of explanation is that? Is the country full name Bosnia and Herzegovina, is Bosnia a region, like Herzegovina, those are indisputable FACTS, correct me if I`m wrong; you can`t say point number 2 above is really splitting hairs, it`s unfair and incorrect to the people from Herzegovina region, so we don`t matter, we don`t deserve to be mentioned on the official Wikipedia sites? Every once in a while, this discussion occurs, and without arguments... But It is what is!

Will this suggested form please you: Hrvatski športski klub Zrinjski Mostar' (English: Croatian Sports Club Zrinjski Mostar) is a professional football club, based in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The club plays in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and has been one of the top teams in the country over the years.

The club was founded by Croatian youth in 1905 and is the oldest football club in Bosnia and Herzegovina. And so forth, and so forth, and so forth... Krtakis 17:45, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

That would be fine. Fenix down (talk) 18:05, 17 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

I think that we can go fine with this last option. Hazbulator™ 19:00, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

I`m glad that we found a suitable solution. Cheers to everyone, and good luck! Krtakis 00:11, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
