This page has been constructed largely from two sources: the German Wikipedia page, and the Holger Reile article (English version). Factual clean-up would be appreciated since these two sources differ slightly, e.g., on the number of Mesmer's siblings; and more information could be added about the reception of Mesmer's work in Europe, where it is far better known than in the United States.
