Gugulethu or Guguletu spelling? edit

Both spellings seem to be used, even on the City of Cape Town website, e.g. [1] and [2]. Both are returned in approximately equal numbers by a Google search. Zaian 10:16, 17 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

The first is most common - it is also closer to the way that Xhosa is usually spelled in similar-sounding words.41.135.44.248 (talk) 20:22, 29 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Gugulethu to my knowledge is more commonly used, and also returns far more results when I search Google (~267,000 to ~95,000). At a glance more of the latter are also foreign results. I can't see the City of Cape Town pages as their website appears to be down at present. Greenman (talk) 22:26, 29 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Its pretty obvious if you ask someone from Gugs. Gugulethu is the correct formal grammatical spelling (its the original spelling). Guguletu is the kind of 'new age' slang spelling. the single 't' makes it sound more fancy and new which is why Guguletu spelling is used on the new Guguletu Square Mall. If we are going in terms of popular culture, both spellings are correct and widely used.09:33, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
