Notability

edit

I believe this book meets the standards for WP:BK since this has met criteria number 1, which requires two or more reviews in sources independent of the book, which includes The New York Times and The Huffington Post. Hermera34 (talk) 20:11, 29 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Tone

This needs some slight editing for tone/OR. It's not awful, but it could use a little work in the themes section. This phrase is problematic since it comes across as a viewpoint created by the writer: "Green on Blue highlights the complicated and diverse motives surrounding why people go to war and the often self-serving reasons why war continues." (It's also unsourced.) Basically this needs to be re-written to show that this is the viewpoint of the people in the sources and not the article writer. This can be done by directly quoting the person in the source itself, saying something like this:

While writing Green on Blue Ackerman wanted to explore the reasons people go to war other than national pride. He found that the reasons people fought were complicated and diverse, stating "the reasons they were fighting were not particularly ideological...the reason why these folks are fighting is they're caught up in cycles of violence, and cycles of need."

This rephrases the section and works in the quote more to show that this is specifically Ackerman's reasons for including these themes and makes it more specifically to him. You can use book specific sources, but you need to give the exact page and if possible, include a quote from the book (in the notation) that explicitly states this. You can do this like this:

<ref>''Title of book'' p. (insert number) "Quote from character or statement that backs up the claim</ref>

Inserting this will make a notation will show up at the bottom in the reference section, which will be helpful since it'd allow others to verify this - something that would be very helpful if someone wants to find this quote for a paper or article they're writing about the topic of war or the book itself. (They should be reading the book, but sometimes people will search for specific page quotes to see if they missed anything.) Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:59, 30 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
