Gomrok is also famous because of its pre-revolutionary (1979) history as an area with concentration of prostitution and legal sex-orientated businesses (Tehran's red-light district). After revolution some of the businesses were set fire and some prostitutes were killed in the fire. Later on, the government agents raided the area and arrested almost anyone in the area and destroyed all houses and businesses (even some of the houses that belonged to martyrs of Iran-Iraq war) and converted the area to a large park. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.156.209.249 (talk) 17:48, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
