Weren't Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland Protectorates rather than Crown Colonies?Bedwasboy (talk) 17:26, 24 March 2008 (UTC) Northern Rhodesia was a crown colony; However, Barotseland which is part Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) was a protectorate. The article's reference to Southern Rhodesia being 'like its neighbours a crown colony is erroneous. Southern Rhodesia was a chartered territory until 1923 after which it became a 'self governing colony' with a wholly elected legislature that held sovereign power save in respect of 'external affairs' and 'native affairs'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ChapmanHB (talkcontribs) 16:03, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The Northern Rhodesia article says "Northern Rhodesia was a protectorate in south central Africa, formed in 1911 by amalgamating the two earlier protectorates of Barotziland-North-Western Rhodesia and North-Eastern Rhodesia". References are given on that page. Strayan (talk) 21:47, 8 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

I am suspicious to see among the medal ribbons the 1914-15 Star as it was only awarded to those who had served abroad in war zones during the years 1914 and 1915 (without qualifying for the 1914 aka Mons Star) which in his case were entirely spent in England. Is there any evidence he was entitled to it?Cloptonson (talk) 19:16, 2 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
