Mayor's recent comments

"In April 2010, Schweighart became the focus of national attention when he participated in an interview in which he expressed doubts over whether President Obama is an American citizen." - Has this really received "national" attention? The only mainstream sources are from Chicago. It seems a bit undue to have half this guy's bio be about some offhand statement.--Milowent (talk) 02:08, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

It is garbage, to put it mildly, and removed per WP:UNDUE concerns. Not sure if what is left is even notable, will be reading through WP:POLITICIAN and such in a few. Tarc (talk) 18:14, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

The 2000 Census population was 67,518. WP:POLITICIAN permits articles on Mayors of major metropolitan cities with sources that show notability; I don't think this individual does. UltraExactZZ ^Said ~ Did 19:32, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

According to Wikipedia's entry on Champaign: "Champaign is notable for sharing the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with its sibling city of Urbana. Thanks to the university and a number of well known technology startup companies, it is often referred to as the hub, or at least a significant landmark, of the Silicon Prairie. Champaign houses offices for seven Fortune 500 companies, and two more are planned to arrive soon."

So yes, I'd say the Mayor of a City hosting major university, a technology hub, and seven Fortune 500 companies is quite notable.

Thanks for the information, Tarc! I'll certainly be scouring through Wikipedia now to REMOVE references to "birther" comments from various politician's bios -- you know, Tarc, the ones you and your pals deliberately INSERT when it suits you to discredit them.

Outside of the movement's "leaders", i.e. Orly Taitz and Phil Berg, I doubt that utterances on this topic are notable to anyone's biography. So I endorse the removal from Blunt's article, as well as any others you may be aware of. Tarc (talk) 22:17, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
