Addressing Maintenance Template issues And Double Citations

edit

I received these messages in the template:

A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject. (March 2024)

This biography of a living person needs additional citations for verification. (March 2024)

While I saw no copy that overtly suggested a close connection with the subject, I have further edited the content to hopefully remove any questions. If anything appears to suggest ANY connection with the subject, it must be corrected, so any advice is appreciated.

Second, I have added multiple additional citations to further certify the statements put forward as fact/truth. However, there are two original citations that link to individuals' websites, which, although factual, are not as good references as I would typically like or as good as those added after I received the citations flag. Specifically the jordan berger and alan arivee citations. I do not know if they are helping or hurting credibility. Any advice welcome.

Thirdly, in relation to the double citations, when i built the page and re-used earlier citations, they republished as separate citations. is there some way to consolidate them without deleting all those repeated and starting the citations over again? Any advice welcome.

Hello User:Gradock. The file File:Gavin Fields ~2022.jpg, the previous photo File:Gavin Lee Fields ~2020.jpg, and the photos File:The Da Vincis - Duling Hall.jpg and File:Brutal Season Poster Billing Block(1).jpg were uploaded by you as "own work". Your edits on Wikipedia have all been on subjects connected with Gavin Fields: this article (created by you), The Da Vincis (moved to main space by you), and Brutal Season (created by you). What's your connection with him please? Thanks, Wikishovel (talk) 19:40, 9 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi Wikishovel,
He is my son-in-law. I did not know him at all when the DaVincis page was created many years ago. A
fter creating the Brutal Seasons Page and discovering the Davincis page, it seemed logical and prudent to me to secondly create an individual page for Fields, to fill the gap between his time with the DaVincis and the release of Brutal Season, and then to add a few updates to the original DaVincis page. As I imagine is the case with many Wikipidia editors, I found myself down the rabbit hole. Fields is a notable film director as well as musician and those familiar with his work suggested the creation of the Brutal Season Page, and all the other work, fell out of that.
i have worked carefully and will continue to do so to ensure that any additions made by me do not suggest any conflict of interest as I am only interested in presenting the information accurately and in keeping with wikipedia standards.
As this is my first interaction with Wikipedia as an editor, I am learning the system from scratch, so my errors have been made in good faith with no intention other than accurately presenting the material. The Brutal Season Poster Billing Block was commissioned by, and is owned by Brutal Season LLC, who gave me permission to upload it. I have subsequently gone back and completed the licensing/release template/email which will hopefully satisfy the wikipedia requirements related to "copywritten" materials. The original photo of Gavin Fields that was posted on the individual page was removed because I received the potential copywrite concern notice. Although that photo in question was provided to me by Fields wife, because it had been previously attached to other websites, it seemed to make sense to replace it. With with Fields' approval, I replaced it with a previously unpublished photo of him, provided to me by his wife. The Photograph of the Davincis was also provided to me by Fields' wife with Fields permission. The Davincis photo has not been attached to the Davincis page yet, as I have been inputting the relevant information as time allows. I did present the the work as "my own" because I was given permission by Brutal Season LLC and Fields. Unfortunately, the uploading queries in wikimedia commons, do not really allow for the type of explanation provided above, and I had to start somewhere. Bottom line, I had permission, there were no copywrite (and still are none) issues and needed the images uploaded.
I want to make it clear that my interest is solely in representing the movie, the individual, and the band accurately, with no bias or suggestion of conflict of interest. In going through this process, I understand with living individuals, especially those earlier in their vocation or avocation there are few circumstances by which their pages can be created without at least some concern of conflict of interest. I can not imagine a circumstance by which a page could be created by anyone but a fan, co-worker, associate, friend, family member or self, who would even be willing to do the work. Access to the source makes a possibly impossible task, aossible. While I am related by marriage, I a generation and decades removed by age. I am highly sensitive to the credibility and academic aims Wikepedia endeavors to maintain. Thank you for reading this and please, I would appreciate your help/guidance in correcting any issues related to these pages.
Separately, I noticed your comment about me having moved the davincis page to "Mainspace." I have no idea how I even did that or what exactly that means. I saw it Wikipedia when I was building the Brutal Season Page and made a couple of minor edits with the intent of coming back and filling in some information between the most recent edit and the band's final performance. What I did to move the page is unknown to me.
On a final note, I have not, will not, will not be offered, nor will accept any payment for editing or creating these pages
Again Thank you. Gradock (talk) 14:15, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Apologies for my error about you moving the Da Vincis page, you renamed it, but it was not previously a draft article.
While it's clear that you are doing your best to keep the two articles you created as neutral as possible, I've asked for advice at the Wikipedia Conflict of Interest Noticeboard about the clear WP:Conflict of interest in the two articles you created, along with the outstanding problem of the missing proof of permission for use of the copyrighted photos you've uploaded: please see WP:IOWN for more information on this. I've posted a link at your user talk page to the discussion at the Conflict of Interest Noticeboard, and I look forward to discussing the matter with you there. Thanks, Wikishovel (talk) 19:28, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello again Wikishovel, Thank you so much for reading the article and for your comments. Also for the WP: COI, WP: IOWN, referral. I greatly appreciate your guidance! Gradock (talk) 20:51, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi Wikishovel, Again thanks for the help. question: any sense of typical response times from WP:IOWN? Sorry to bother. Gradock (talk) 17:03, 15 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, there's been no response back yet on the Conflict of Interest Noticeboard, but in the meantime could you please read WP:IOWN, and use the instructions there to sort out the copyright? Many thanks, Wikishovel (talk) 18:19, 15 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
