Gumby
editGumby should be listed as a second mascot in the university infobox. He has been a prominent fixture at home basketball games held at the Hammermill Center for ages. Blueshango 02:14, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- If you are able to reference it, someone will not be able to remove on the basis of believing it to be false. Like I did.
—Dtbohrertalk•contribs 01:35, 30 April 2007 (UTC)- I've got a photo of Gumby at some GU basketball games that I took. I'll upload them.--Write_On_1983 talk | contribs 00:22, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
History
editThe history appears incorrect; contradicts the info in http://www.gannon.edu/about/history/default.asp
Fields of Study
editShouldn't Fields of Study come before Athletics, considering that athletics is secondary to education at a university? Also, I feel that the Fields of Study section requires cleanup and clarification. I was unaware that Gannon is "primarily known" for its pre-professional health sciences, etc. As a member of the Erie community for 26 years and as a current grad student and employee at Gannon, I've known Gannon primarily for its business and education programs (I study neither of these, so don't hold me on counts of bias). This is especially true of, but not limited to, the university's graduate program. So, if this can be justified, then keep it; if not, the statement needs to be removed. Furthermore, the section makes it seem that Gannon (at best) only offers pre-professional medical programs and (at worst) are its only significant programs. Gannon offers eight associate degrees, 59 bachelor's degrees, 22 master's degrees, 2 doctoral degrees, and 10 pre-professional programs. I propose that the section be renamed Academics and be written to reflect Gannon's diverse academic offerings, as opposed to its narrow presentation of pre-professional programs. - The article lacks sourcing. Provide adequate references and you will have a strong argument for the modifications you've suggested. Keep the tone neutral and appropriate for an encyclopedia, and document your sources, and have fun. You have every right to contribute content at Wiki. We could use some help on the WikiProject Erie if you're game. Pat 05:37, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Gannon Univ ath.png
editImage:Gannon Univ ath.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:38, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Campus section as list of buildings
editIt seems highly unusual --and not quite appropriate to an article in an encyclopedia --to have a section on the campus that is essentially a list of buildings. A description of the campus as a whole (acreage, style, number of buildings, general facilities) would make sense. A list also doesn't seem to fit with the college/university guidelines (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:College_and_university_article_guidelines). Unless a rationale can be offered to justify this list, I'll replace the section with a description of the campus and facilities and delete the list.
