Point of View

The accumulation of mentions of Mark Overmars' Game Maker seems to be advertisement for this specific product in an neutral article. It should be reformulated.--Hansen-si (talk) 15:37, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

Unsure what you're getting at. There are at least four programs that use some variation of the name "Game Maker". You have focused on two instances where Mark Overmars' version is the specific point of discussion, so it makes sense to clarify what software the text is referencing. His Game Maker was in fact a major element in the growth of the indie scene in the middle of the last decade, and it is in fact one of the major examples of a GCS that contains a scripting language. Neither of these is the case for RSD's Game-Maker, Al Staffieri Jr.'s GameMaker, or Garry Kitchen's GameMaker.

Furthermore, Mark Overmars is no longer involved in the project; years ago he sold it off to YoYo Games. Maybe you'd have an argument if the article were to toss around "YoYo" at every possible juncture. Instead, here we have two mentions of the software's actual author. This is a totally neutral fact, not an endorsement of any business entity.

By the same measure, if the article had cause to directly reference one of the other Game Makers it would make just as much sense to qualify the reference by that software's author.

And look, I hate to play this game but your command of English makes me question your editorial judgment here. Even if we leave out the dreaded words "Mark Overmars", nearly every word that you've added in their place needs work on a basic grammatical level. I'm not saying this to be a jackass, but until I get a reasoned argument to the contrary by someone who knows how to edit an article, I'm going to say that clarity trumps nervousness about NPOV. Merging pages

Should we merge this page with: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_integrated_development_environment (despite the title, it talks about Game Engines. Game Engine is likely preferred and well known over Game IDE or Game Construction System (this page).

I suggest also creating a page for Game Description Languages, like the Extensible Graphical Game Generator by John Orwant, Zillions of Games, and Stanford's GDL.
