editI disagree that this article is not blatant advertising. ACL is the premiere computing language for Computer Aided Audit Tools (CAATS) a growing field within the audit profession. The article explains a little of the history of the company and it's primary product---which is the point of an encyclopedia. It is a specialized piece of software that the audit profession is interested in. The article should be viewed as a subpage of the CAATS page explaining the largest provider of specialized CAATS software. Note: I am not defending the IDEA page that was created because as that page currently exists, it is spam. This one, give more information about the company/product.Balloonman 17:45, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- It does have severe NPOV and spam-y wording problems. John Reaves 18:10, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'll work on that. Reading it today, I have to agree. It may not get done right away (I'm in the process of packing to move across country.)Balloonman 18:18, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- It has taken longer than expected, but I'm going to start working on this article a little more...Balloonman 02:26, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- I haven't had time to work on this... if it gets nominated for deletion, I won't oppose it... although I will probably rewrite it when I get a chance... I've just been too busy elsewhereBalloonman 14:39, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm going to tackle this article now... so if you see this as part of a recent changes patrol please give me some time to make the necessary changes.Balloonman 04:57, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Finally rewritten hopefully it doesn't read as an advert anymore.Balloonman 19:07, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

data dictionary
editwe just acquired the ACL software and on the implementation stage, the major issue before us is that our consultant require from us to provide the data dictionary for all the applications the organisation is running on. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.248.9.143 (talk) 14:34, 7 February 2007 (UTC).
- This is not the forum for requesting aid on the software. If you wish to get some user input on the software, please goto the ACL.COM website where there is a User Forum.Balloonman 04:58, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
ACL Certified Data Analyst (ACDA)
editSorry to keep removing the Cat, but I have been seriously cleaning out all the confusing stuff from Category:Professional certification. I have removed this article from that Cat because it is a Business, not a Certificate. The Cert it issues I DO believe belongs in the Category:Professional certification though. I hope that, given some time and community input, ACDA can be worked into a stand alone article showing pro's, con's, prerequsites(?) etc. Exit2DOS2000•T•C• 08:46, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:ACL LOGO.gif
editImage:ACL LOGO.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
ACL (software)
editThe company no longer markets itself as "Audit Command Language" it is now just ACL. They want others to realize that they can use the software, not just audit. They will still use "Audit Command Language" but just to maintain the trademark.---Balloonman PoppaBalloon 07:36, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
User Groups
editI don't know if this belongs on the main page or not, but establishing user groups has been a major push for ACL lately. The two largest/best known user groups are the Virginia User Group and the TexasACL User Group. The TexasACL user group page has a lot of information about ACL.(unsigned July 2008---IP 75.53.99.132.)
Advert-like
editThis article seems to be more like an advertisement than an objective description of the company. There's some big claims, especially in the lead, where the only reference was to this page itself. I removed that reference. Beyond that, we only reference the company's page. We really need some third-party reliable sources for this article. I'm not really sure where to start looking, though. --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 19:01, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
