Opel/Vauxhall Ecotecs edit

GM is now using the Ecotec name just as extensively as Ford uses its Duratec. It may come unnoticed by US public, but the entire range of Opel diesels is produced by Fiat, yet it is marked as Ecotec CDI, and obviously different low-displacement petrol engines in use by Opel and Vauxhall are dubbed Ecotec TwinPort in the same confusing way.

GM Europe Media Online - Opel - Products&Services doesn't mention internal RPO codes of the engines used in Opel cars, so I just couldn't consistently classify them as in the rest of the article. Anyone who can possibly make a better classification out of their specs should click the Media link above and choose a car model to download a Technical Data document, these have plenty of data on every possible trim/engine combination. --DmitryKo 20:31, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)

New 1.8L Ecotec edit

This Spring, Opel will be introducing new 1.8L Ecotec with VVT. The official PR is here: media.gm.com. Model codes are still unknown. DmitryKo 19:25, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)

SKU codes edit

See Talk:List of GM engines#SKU codes for a (incomplete) list of SKU codes used in Opel cars, including some past Family 1 Ecotecs.

1.4 L non-Twinport edit

If 1.4 Twinport is Family 0, [1], what family is the older 1.4 L? --DmitryKo 20:50, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Chevrolet Astra and Vectra have FlexPower engines edit

GM do Brasil seems to have also a 2.0 (Astra and Vectra) and a 2.4 16 V (vectra with automatic transmission) engines which are FlexPower. Could anyone get some more specific information about those engines and put it into the article? The Vectra 2.4 16 V motor seems to be the first flex-fuel engine in the world above 2.0L Loudenvier 06:42, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

---> Hello, Loudenvier; i erase your commments about this engines from the article, because, those engines (2.0 and 2.4) are from the Family II engine series... regards.

Oops!!! Sorry for messing this up! I really thought they were Family I engines... But actually I know very litle about engines... Loudenvier 16:15, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Don't worry... i put your commments in the GM Family II engine page... you can find them in GM Brazil. Regards

--->I have noticed that it's been suggested merging the C16SE page into this more general one. Can I suggest _not_ doing this. There are lots of details specific to each GM engine and I for one would support the expansion of pages on each engine. I'm going to continue to improve the C16SE page. Any other takers for the myriad other engines?!? Cheers, Aeronell (talk) 13:02, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Relation to Isuzu G engine? edit

There seem to be some major similarities between the Family 1 engine and the Isuzu G engine. VX1NG (talk) 14:42, 22 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

U18XER edit

Opel_Astra#Saturn_Astra links via a "U18XER" link to GM_Family_1_engine#Generation_III but there is no U18XER listed on this page. Is this an omission in the list or a typo? shadyman (talk) 06:04, 12 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
