Gärdet is not part of Östermalm. It is separate. From the Swedish Wiki:

Stadsdelen ligger öster om och nordost om Östermalm. Gränsen mot Östermalm utgörs av Valhallavägen samt i en linje norr om TV-huset och vidare öster om kvarteret Kompaniet vid Gärdesgatan. Lidingövägen bildar gräns mot Norra Djurgården och Hjorthagen.

These are the boundaries of Gärdet. Roughly:

Gärdet is east of and northeast of Östermalm. The boundary with Östermalm is Valhallavägen as well a line north of the TV building and further east of the quarter Kompaniet at Gärdesgatan. Lidingövägen is the boundary with northern Djurgården and Hjorthagen.

Gärdet is not part of Östermalm.

Further: 'Tessinparken' was misspellt.

Further: 'Ladugårdsgärdet' isn't its older name - it's its official name.
