Discography

edit

I added 14 items to the list, but I'm sure a more thorough search would turn up more. A couple of the items I added are film -- music videos and interview material. I didn't think a separate filmography was warranted. If there are more of these, it might be worth dividing the list in the future. Ciche (talk) 05:18, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Name order?

edit

Which is his family name and which is his personal name, and where does "István" fit into it? It would be nice to have this specified within the article (likely at the header) in the way that Chinese and Japanese names and Spanish compound family names are explained. 96.36.104.238 (talk) 14:34, 21 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Stormy

edit

Obviously Gábor also covered Stormy (song). See f. ex. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHD04dXpK80 I wonder if that also was the influence for Carlos Santana's version. --BjKa (talk) 22:00, 21 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Name Pronunciation

edit

There's no pronunciation shown for his name. I can think of several alternatives and would like to know which is right. (Do the accent marks indicate the stressed syllables?) Ajericn (talk) 04:17, 3 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

I can not write it in phonetic orthorgaphy, but sz is like s, syllable is on the first wovel, which is read as a in most European languages (but not in English)--Ymblanter (talk) 06:49, 3 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Szabo was extremely talented and deserves as much information as the wiki ethics will allow. If you'd like to help, find the most reputable references possible and cite them. These would be references to the huge influence he had on other very well known artists and to his undeniably excellent musicianship. Metaphysics Man (talk) 01:54, 8 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Witness to live performance

edit

Attended a live performance by Gabor Szabo at auditorium at UCLA (circa 1967-70). Had most of his record albums, starting with Spellbinder. Was so impressed by his performance using feedback. His acoustic guitar had an electric pickup and the amplifier was in the hassock (commode?) he sat on. No giant amplifiers or speakers. The performance was indeed 'spellbinding" Awwlees (talk) 20:26, 3 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
