Wiki Biography Question - edit

I am writing my first Wikipedia article--a biography of a living musician. I seem have the format, citations, and links in order. But I can not figure out how to add the "Background Information Box" that I see on other biography pages. This is the box that usually appears on the right hand side at the top of a page that gives the full name, date of birth, spouse, children, years active, and so forth.

Can anyone offer advice as to how Raylaur15 (talk) 12:33, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Dear Wiki Editor Devonian Wombat: You recently accepted ny Wiki article on Vincentian musician Frankie McIntosh. However, the editor ONE1596 put up a Warning Heading regarding the possibility of “undisclosed payments” and that the article on Frankie McIntosh may need “clean up.” I assure you that I received no payments from Frankie McIntosh, the subject of the article, or anyone else. The page was written completely gratis by me. Is there a form I must sign to confirm this? I do not believe I violated Wiki’s “neutral point of view” policies. The laudatory language regarding McIntosh’s work as a music arranger does not come from me. These are published, direct quotations from well-regarded Caribbean Music critics Dawad Philip (Amsterdam News), Nelson King (Caribbean Life and the Vincentian), and Les Slater (Class Magazine). The final paragraph on McIntosh’s accomplishments comes directly from the remarks at the ceremony where he was awarded an honorary Doctorate from the University of the West Indies (as reported by Nelson King in Caribbean Life). I included these quotations as a way of summarizing his accomplishments and establishing his notoriety through outside sources. Are these quotations not appropriate? If so, I will remove them. I would greatly appreciate your advice regarding anything else that needs to be done to “clean up” the article. This is my first attempt at a Wiki article and would like to get it right! I am not sure about the best way to communicate with you is. I just removed the Warning Heading and tried to explain the situation to ONE 1596 when I clicked “Publish Changes” after editing out the Warning. Is there another procedure I need to go through? My email is: raylaur@earthlnk.net My user name is: Raylaur15 Looking forward to your advice and thanks for your time! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:7000:8106:B298:AC0A:75C8:FFF4:B952 (talk) 14:29, 15 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Concerns have been raised at the Teahouse (where this question was also posted) about a possible WP:COI, given that the picture of the subject and the stamp are tagged as "own work". 199.208.172.35 (talk) 17:18, 15 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Dear Editors: Thank you for your response. Yes, I took the picture of Frankie McIntosh at the piano with my camera. And he showed me the stamp that I took a picture of it with my camera.
Does that constitute a "Conflict of Interest," because I took a picture of him? I thoguht this was the easiest way of getting an image so there would be no issue of someone else claiming photo rights.
But, if necessary, I will take both pictures down.
As far as the COI goes, I can assure you that I am not a relative or close family friend of Frankie McIntosh. He is a musician I have crossed paths within Brooklyn, and who I have mentioned in my short piece on Brooklyn soca music (reference 7). Is that a COI?
Also, I received no payment for this article. How do I get that misinformation removed from the Warning banner?
Should I be in touch with the Wiki Editor ONE1596 who put the warming banner up? I would be happy to do so if you could tell me how to do that.
Again, I thank you for your response. This is my first Wiki article and I want to do it correctly.

IP editor/@Raylaur15 (please remember to sign in to your account!), that does qualify as a COI, as you would see if you read WP:COI. The declaration does not go at the top of the article; the best place to put it is your user page (User:Raylaur15). I will add a banner here as well. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 19:15, 15 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
