Name

edit

"In the American media of the time, he was often referred to as Francisco Portusach or Frank Portusach."

I presume Portusach Martinez was his Spanish-style last name (name of father+mother) and thus this referring was according to the way Spanish names are usually employed in other languages, and even in Spanish in day-to-day referring? Compare the Spanish wikipedia article on Jose Maria Aznar whose full name is José María Alfredo Aznar López.

I don't know what the standards are, except for what is in Iberian naming customs. If there's a Wikipedia standard for this, please feel free to change it. (And point me to it so I do the right thing next time.) JRP 00:37, 28 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well what I meant was that probably anyone would have called him Francisco Portusach, while the article now regards it as something special. I'm not saying the title should be changed, just this remark on how he was called in the press. By the way, for the article title, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_%28people%29 recommends the 'usual' name, which in the case of Spanish names seems to be the double name. But there's no standard for the exceptions of course... Renke 12:48, 28 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why is the name in the wrong order?

edit

His name was Francisco (personal name) Portusach (his father's family name) Martínez (his mother's family name). The way the article is written nowadays is the Portuguese fashion!
