Reversions of copied text edit

On June 12 I placed a tag re: copyright violations. Much of the content came verbatim from the school's web site; besides copyright issues, it read as promotional. The current profile is cut back to encyclopedic essentials. If something vital has been accidentally deleted, please restore...judiciously. JNW (talk) 02:06, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

A good portion of this text was restored, and I have reverted it again. A Google search of key words shows that almost all of it was cut and pasted directly from three sources: the school's web site, and those of Peterson's Guide and Boarding Schools USA. This is a copyright infringement, and is treated as vandalism. JNW (talk) 23:49, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is this an extant instutition? edit

The article is inadequate.

At the expense of being obvious, when you write an article about a substantive entity, you begin it with a definition of that entity. You say, "X is an academy in Maine." or "X was an academy in Maine that existed from 1823 to 18xx."

Instead, the first sentence states when the institution was founded. That tells me it is defunct.

Define and describe first (if only briefly, as a placeholder, just to get the article going); then you may provide history.

And while we're at it, rewrite this article in English.

As early as the third sentence, readers -- who God forbid may include prospective students -- cheerfully read: "Today, Foxcroft Academy serve as a private ...."

There's a best-seller on the market right now, and it's called Idiot America. --Jim Luedke Jimlue (talk) 19:14, 29 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
