This info was added to the article in March 2013 without reference, "It wasn't originally established by 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2008, because A Company, 5th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland was there when the MEU first arrived, and we took it over from a battalion of Ghurkas, who took it over from the Grenadier Guards, and at the end of our tour it was was transferred to the British Army regiment."
